Hartswood Cottage in Bodham, Norfolk is our pride and joy, the fulfilment of a long term dream to own a cottage for holiday letting. We love and spend a great deal of our time in North Norfolk and it therefore became the obvious location for us to pursue this ambition. Over the years we have experienced holiday accommodation of various qualities and have decided that there is more disappointment than joy in this market and we really wanted this cottage to be quality accommodation at an affordable price.
When we first acquired the property back in 2004, we furnished it with all new furniture and refitted the bathroom and downstairs toilet. It became an extension of our own home, every item we put into the house had first to pass the “would we be happy with this?” test. However we are always looking with a critical eye and replacing and updating as necessary. We have spent the recent Winter months modifying the kitchen/diner to give an up to date feel to the kitchen whilst retaining the cosy atmosphere. This modification has also provided a better defined dining area. We really believe Hartswood Cottage is a comfortable and peaceful retreat for your holiday and our guests’ comments bear witness to this.
In deciding how best to let out our property we concluded that we should prefer to deal with the guests ourselves rather than leave it to an agency. We prefer the personal touch and to get to know our guests as individuals rather than booking references. If you are someone who would appreciate and enjoy our cottage then please contact us, we would be very happy to talk to you. Everything is provided, including all bedding, towels and electricity. For your convenience, there is also a payphone which is both for incoming and outgoing calls.
Bodham itself is convenient for the entire North Norfolk coast especially Cromer, Sheringham, Blakeney and Holt. The National Trust properties of Blickling and Felbrigg are close by and a visit Sheringham Park in the Spring is spectacular. If you are a keen bird watcher you will find Cley marshes nature reserve not far away.
North Norfolk is not just for Summer however, it boasts the famous Thursford Christmas Spectacular and if you are around at that time of year it is certainly worth an evening stroll around Holt to view the seasonal lights . The cottage is warm and cosy, an ideal place to spend the evenings after a brisk walk along the Peddars Way maybe. We hope to welcome you very soon
